Here’s A Quick and Dirty Guide for Selling On eBay

This week I’ve made it a goal to sell stuff around the house that I don’t use. I have an X-Box 360 that’s been sitting in a box for over 2 years along with 4 controllers and a bunch of video games.

I also have boxes of books I haven’t opened in a while.

All that makes today’s article fitting since I’m talking to you about how to sell stuff on eBay.

Alright, before I jump into that, yesterday I introduced you to Affiliate Marketing. Please click here if you missed it so you can catch up!

Look, I know you might already have a business or have aspirations to sell your own product. But Affiliate Marketing saves you the time and money it takes to get your own product and service to market…

Why not earn while you learn?

Or bare minimum, earn while you get your own stuff ready for market?

That said, if you make your own arts and crafts or have stuff around the house you want to sell like I do, then you’re really going to enjoy today’s article.

Since the arrival of online shopping centers, people have grown accustomed to buying what they need online.

Whether you want to order custom-made cakes for special occasions, buy home décor or looking for the perfect gifts for loved ones…

… online shopping centers such as eBay and Amazon.com can be your virtual shopping mall.

If you’re looking for the best way to unload your unused pieces of furniture and other personal belongings cluttering up your home, eBay can be your perfect answer.

What’s more, you can buy and sell goods from other countries such as clothes, jewelry and new electronic devices, all on eBay.

Take the Guesswork Out of Selling Items On eBay

You need to understand how this system works so you know the best ways to set up your account and start buying and selling items on eBay:

• The first thing you need to do is create your own eBay account. Submit the required personal information such as your contact information, the name of the business, and payment options.

• Be ready to answer all inquiries from potential customers. You have to regularly check your eBay account to respond to questions.

If you have a fast response rate, it’s more likely you’ll encourage lots of visitors to check out your listings since they’re interested in what you’re selling.

NOTE: It helps your sales if you include plenty of product, shipping and policy-related questions and answers so potential customers don’t feel the need to contact you directly because they won’t.

This way, they have all the information they need to make a buying a decision quickly.

Again, take time to list all product-specific and pertinent information that’s needed for your potential customers to make a buying decision such as manufacture date, expiration date (if applicable) and locations products were made.

• Be familiar with eBay’s different policies for selling personal and commercial items online so you don’t inadvertently break any laws.

• If you plan to sell items that belong in separate categories, you should create your own listings. You also need to determine the pricing of your items.

You can sell via auctions where potential buyers can bid on specific items they want.

Plus, you can try more traditional ways of selling by assigning a set price to each item.

• You can sell the same products but in different colors or sizes within the same category. eBay also has their own listings for your items and categories.

• You need to monitor your listings. Regularly check your account to track views, submitted orders or inquiries.

• Lastly, be sure to close the deal with your buyers quickly. It’s worth repeating, provide potential customers with all the details they need, specifically, the modes of payment and the turnaround time for delivery.

What should you keep in mind when selling on eBay?

Before you start selling your products on eBay, watch out for scams and be extra cautious. This will help you avoid making bad business decisions.

Here are 5 tips to help you sell successfully on eBay:

Tip 1. Research is the key to a successful eBay business.

It’s natural that you’ll find similar products posted so check out your competition. Competition is an indicator that your products are popular with buyers and auctioneers. This will also help you determine whether to continue selling these products or sell something different.

Tip 2. Take pictures and post. Pictures will help you sell your products. Just like when you order at a restaurant, pictures of the food will entice you to order. If the food doesn’t look appetizing, there’s no way you’ll order it.

The same applies to sell on eBay.

Potential buyers will first see photos of products before deciding if the items are worth buying. That’s why it’s critical to post photos that’ll attract more buyers.

Tip 3. Provide multiple payment options. Buyers will look for better, easier payment options when purchasing products online. So aside from money-grams, transfers, direct deposits, and online payment websites, be sure that you accept payments made through credit and debit cards.

Tip 4. Be professional when dealing with clients. Keep your mind focused on nurturing loyal customers with professional and honest customer service.

Make sure every detail posted about your product is true and do not overcharge your clients. Respond to your client’s inquiries and feedback as quickly as possible.

NOTE: It can be tough sometimes but hone your ability to accept feedback, both positive and negative.

Tip 5. Convince more buyers to visit your page and purchase each item with creative, yet accurately descriptive, articles or posts.

The Pros of Selling on eBay

For starters, it’s a virtual mall accessible to anybody with an Internet connection so your products can be easily viewed and purchased by droves of potential customers.

You do not need highly developed technical skills to start an account on eBay or any other online shopping center.

If you have a steady Internet connection, a little knowledge about navigating through eBay, you’re in business.

The Downsides of Selling on eBay:

There are fees that are charged for advertising and selling. This can affect the amount of money that you’ll earn.

Also, there’s no guarantee that you’ll make fast or consistent cash so this model isn’t the most scalable for growth.

It definitely helps if you’re already established or have received a lot of positive reviews about the products you’re selling.

To recap, I covered “Selling On eBay” including how eBay works, tips, the pros, and cons.

I hope this information served you in evaluating the Internet Marketing model that works best for you.

Stay tuned because I’m merely scratching the service on all the opportunities that exist in creating the income of your dreams online.

Tomorrow I’m going to cover one of my favorite Internet Marketing models…

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation From the Crime Lab to the Slot Floor

If you were a fan of CBS’s top rated TV show CSI, you were among a global audience of millions who regularly watched the crime lab team use state of the art forensic technology to solve grisly murders. In 2012 CSI was given the International Audience Award as the most watched show in the world.

The timing was perfect for IGT (International Game Technology) to unveil its latest creation at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas: the CSI Slot Machine. The popular three in one penny slot enjoyed a run at 98 casinos throughout the country. Although the CSI slot is not as popular as it once was, you can still find them in many gaming jurisdictions.

How to Play

The format is a 5 reel 30 line penny video slot with bonus features. One to five credits can be wagered to play all 30 lines. The minimum bet is $.40 (one cent for each line plus ten cents to cover the bonus features). The maximum bet is $2.00 per spin when five credits are wagered. The top jackpot is $2,250 with max credits and $450 if you’re frugal and bet the minimum.

To get started (after you insert your money of course) simply swipe the screen as you would your I-Pad or smart phone, and select your game of choice, CSI Vegas, CSI NY, or CSI Miami. Your favorite show characters will appear on the reel symbols and touch screen that has the latest LCD technology and 3D graphics. Audio, video clips and music replicate the version selected. The volume is adjustable as you hear the great rock group, The Who, playing the shows’ theme(s). Your chair will even vibrate when certain symbols appear with a payout. You can even switch games during play.

Bonus Features

Each version has three bonus features: Trace Evidence, Crime Scene, and Crime Lab. When a Trace Evidence symbol is triggered on the fifth reel, the screen goes dark and extra wild symbols suddenly appear which initiate multipliers with lager payouts. When three Crime Scene photo symbols appear, you start selecting clues on a touch screen at a gruesome crime scene. Each clue is hiding bonus credits behind pieces of evidence. Discover three or more pieces and you’re at the Crime Lab, where you watch forensic evidence being unlocked as you unlock free spins. Each strand of DNA evidence found will increase the multiplier on the free spins.

Some Straight Talk on Affiliate Marketing

My wife and daughter are out of town today so I was going to get caught up on my favorite TV shows: Supergirl, Flash, Supernatural and Legion.

I definitely like the superhero shows. I grew up watching Christopher Reeve’s Superman films and reading comics.

But when I got home, I decided to take a nap…

… and that nap turned into sleeping through the night!

Remember, yesterday I gave you a taste of how Internet Marketing works. Click here if you missed it so you can catch up!

I know there’s one that’ll suit your interests and complement your skills.

In reality, the Internet can give you countless possibilities in business and earnings. I’ll focus on the most proven ones.

These are known to have launched thousands of Internet businesses all over the world and helped local brick-and-mortar businesses see profits early.

And today I’ll start examining for you the 3 Internet Marketing (IM) models for you to choose from, starting with Affiliate Marketing.

This model is all about you joining forces with an online seller or retailer. I’ll refer to them as merchants for the rest of this article.

The revenue will be shared by you and the merchant.

How does it work EXACTLY?

Well, income is usually generated through visitors clicking through to your landing page via an ad you posted. Or through purchases from clients, who have visited your landing page.

How you’re compensated, ultimately, depends on, one of three types of Affiliate Marketing you choose to work with:

1. Pay per Sale Affiliate Marketing – this will allow you to earn income from sales finalized through advertisements you post.

The merchants will monitor your activity through these sales.

Every time they close deals originating from your ad, you’ll receive a percentage of the income or a fixed commission, depending on the number of sales finalized. One example is ClickBank.com.

2. Pay Per Click Affiliate Marketing – this model is all about linking the merchant’s website to your own website. Say the merchant pays to have their ad posted on your page. Every time a visitor clicks the link that leads to your affiliate merchant’s page, you’ll earn a fixed amount.

3. Pay per Lead Affiliate Marketing – In this case, you’ll accept advertisements posted on your website. When leads originate from the ads or links on your website, you’ll get compensated.

How are payments made?

Payments are made instantly, weekly, bi-weekly or on a monthly basis. The payments you receive will be determined by the commission rate your merchant gives affiliates.

Personally, the affiliate program Dahl Integration Marketing prefers uses Click Bank for payments. I have it set up to pay us weekly.

There are several ways to get your payments:

One is via electronic banking by way of payment or financial websites.
Money can also be wired through to your personal or business bank account – this can also be done online or through direct bank deposits.
A regular check can be mailed to you.
Another popular way to receive payments is via PayPal.
What Skills Are Required to Start an Affiliate Marketing Business?

You need to know pay-per-click advertising, email marketing and copywriting.

Advantages of Affiliate Marketing:

1. Generally speaking, you don’t need to spend a lot of cash to get started. Most Affiliate Programs are free to join although they’ll ask you to apply.

That said, there are Premium Affiliate Programs where affiliates pay a licensing fee of $1,000 or more.

2. You can earn money while you sleep. Who doesn’t want to earn more cash in the middle of the night?

When this first happened to me I felt an enormous weight lifted off my shoulders because income wasn’t always dependent on my time.

3. It’s one of the easiest ways to earn income (when you compare it to creating and marketing your own products) because you shorten the time to market.

When you create your own products and services you’re on the hook to prove that it can sell. This initial test campaign can cost thousands of dollars to prove your offers’ feasibility.

Conversely, you can simply promote a popular product that’s already proven successful and skip all the trial-and-error and initial ‘cold-hard’ cash outlay.

Whether you’re in this as a part-time source of income or as a long-term business, affiliate marketing is still one of the best ways to earn income without all the typical hassles of managing a business.

4. If you’re successful, you’ll always be up-to-date with what’s going on in the world of Internet marketing. This is a great opportunity for you to find or create different products and services to feature on your website.

5. You’ll also have opportunities to work with other affiliate marketers and increase your earnings together.

The Downsides to Affiliate Marketing

Although you can make a living with affiliate marketing, there are a couple of downsides to this model that you should know.

Once you have all this information, you can devise plans to help you avoid these potentially costly problems:

1. As an affiliate, you may fall victim to shady businesses and, in turn, you may be accused of deceiving clients.

To make sure that you keep this from happening, you have to screen all your merchants. Verify their products and check if their actual businesses are legit.

A rule of thumb is to first become a client of the merchants you plan to work with. What’s more, it’s always easier to sell a product or service you believe in, because you’re a client and can speak from your own experience with the product.

You also need to read the fine print in the contract of affiliation before finalizing the deal.

2. You’ll stop earning without prior notice. This can happen if you do not regularly communicate with your merchants.

Merchants can stop or discontinue production of products without informing their affiliates (and in some cases go out of business) so be sure to stay in touch with your merchants to avoid this problem.
